The Anarchy Online and Age Of Conan developer has unveiled details on new title The Secret World
The Norwegian developer announced the MMO two years ago, with promises of alternate reality gaming and social networking elements. The game's also set to use the same engine as the much-derided (and secretly adored) Conan, and although no official screenshots have yet been released the trailers and concept art are looking magnificent.
“There's a definite Japanese influence on the Secret World trailer”
Senior producer and director Ragnar Tørnquist said: "The real world is such a rich and fascinating setting for an MMO, and we are able to draw inspiration from ancient history, stories of lost cities and forgotten civilisations, folk tales, urban legends, conspiracy theories and pop culture. We are building a game that mixes modern day Earth with terrifying monsters, dark and occult magic, cool weapons and awesome powers – and it's unlike anything you have ever seen before in an MMO."
There's a definite Japanese influence on the Secret World teaser trailer, (part two of which can be viewed on this Norwegian website) while some of the artwork looks a bit like Blade Runner, before going off on a bit of a tangent. In fact, there's a definite Heavy Rain quality to both the outline of the concept and the visuals – let us know what you think.
